Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A few years ago, our classrooms were equipped with very strong air purifiers since instrumentalists must inhale and exhale deeply to produce great music. These purifiers help to reduce the effects of breathing dirty air, which because our school is under construction, there is a lot of extra dust around. Unfortunately, the filters have not been replaced in the four years that we have had the air purifiers, and the dust in the air is getting worse.

These air filter replacements for our air purifiers will allow my students to breathe clean air, help stave off illness, and allow for deeper inhalation without fear.

Since the area where my school is located is considered one of the most polluted areas of New York City, we have a higher rate of asthma than most schools. While playing musical instruments helps to create stronger lungs, breathing in dusty and dirty air does not help. These replacement filters will go a very long way to making our classroom a cleaner and healthier environment.
