Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in the second smallest city in Los Angeles County. Our elementary school is 400 students strong. We have 1 percent African American and 98 percent Latinos. We have a 90 percent socioeconomically disadvantaged population and 4 percent foster youth. All of our students receive free lunch. Despite the many challenges they face, my students arrive every morning full of life, ready to learn, and excited to get started on our day. I do my best to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

My students need access to clean water throughout the day. Most bring one water bottle which are drank before recess even starts. Throughout the day, they ask for more water. We have sinks that have recently been reopened but i do not feel comfortable letting them drink from it durning these difficult times.

Water is an essential need for any person and my students shouldn't be the exception.

Please help me give my students clean water and the containers to hold it. These filter will be installed in our classroom sink and available for the duration of each school day as needed.
