Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am teaching a class of fifth and sixth graders in a self-contained classroom. All of my students come from an economically disadvantaged background. Even though they receive free breakfast and lunch, they are often hungry throughout the day.

It's hard to concentrate when you are hungry!

I want to provide my students with healthy snacks they will enjoy eating that are both nutritious and tasty. We have a sink/fountain in our room. The water is said to be safe, but it sometimes has a cloudy appearance. In order to ensure the water is clean and to help decrease our carbon footprint, I would like to have a filtering pitcher and reusable cups for my students. My students also enjoy sitting on the floor, but it's not mopped everyday. I would like a Swiffer, so we can be sure we are sitting in a clean space.
