Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a social skills teacher working with students on the autism spectrum, my role extends beyond academic development to encompass the teaching of essential social and life skills, including personal hygiene and cleanliness. To ensure a healthy and safe learning environment, it is vital to have hand sanitizer, toy cleaning wipes and sprays, boogie wipes for noses, tissues, and disinfecting wipes and sprays. These supplies are key to preventing the spread of germs and maintaining a clean, safe space for all students.

In addition to using these products to maintain the classroom’s cleanliness, I plan to incorporate them into my lessons as tools for teaching self-awareness, responsibility, and hygiene.

By actively engaging students in tasks like cleaning their hands, wiping their noses, and sanitizing the toys they use, I will help them learn valuable self-care skills. These activities will foster greater independence, a sense of responsibility, and respect for both their personal space and shared classroom materials. This hands-on, practical approach will not only contribute to a healthier classroom environment but also create meaningful opportunities for my students to practice their social and motor skills in a real-world context.
