My Students

My students are smart, curious, creative, funny, hardworking, and friendly towards one another. My personal class consists of 18 students that represent families all over the world, as well as a variety of learning levels. My school has seventeen first-grade classrooms and my K-2 school consists of over 1,000 students of diverse backgrounds. This can make teaching challenging because of the diverse learning abilities, but my students are always eager to learn. These students continually face obstacles head-on and continually strive to do better. Their drive and passion for learning are amazing!

My Project

In first grade, each week we discuss a life skill. These life skills introduce students to contributing to a group, helping others, and learning cooperation. It is our classroom responsibility to keep it clean and organized as a school family. Each student in the class has a job to help achieve these skills. The jobs change each week and we work together to create a happy classroom.

Lifeskills are important tools that create problem solvers, thinkers, and teach children how to work together while providing life lessons.

In our classroom, we use the life skills organization, personal best, initiative, responsibility, and gratitude to help create a friendly classroom of diverse learners. Lifeskills play a vital role in our class lessons each week. Providing students with individual sweepers with a dustpan will teach students to keep their clean and organized. We also have various items throughout our class that need a home in order to be organized. The bookshelf with bins will do just that. It will give students an area to keep their belongings. This will help teach students to be responsible for their things. A vacuum will also allow the class to clean up little messes that occur throughout the day.
