My Students

These second graders have had quite the school experience. They were in kindergarten when their lives shut down due to COVID. They only got half of the year in the school. Then, moving into first grade, many of them chose to stay home so this year is their first real year at school. Because of this, we have been working extremely hard to get them all caught up to a second grade level. They are troopers though! These kids do nothing but smile. They tell me all of the time how excited they are to learn.

For some crazy reason, these kiddos even enjoy our testing days.

They say it is because they like to challenge themselves and see how much they actually know. Even if there is a misconception, they try to keep a positive attitude and fix their mistakes. Their love of learning is refreshing and helps me stay exciting teaching them. I absolutely love planning new lessons because I know my students are going to be happy with each new activity.

My Project

When a classroom is cluttered, it causes students to be distracted and hinders learning. When lessons are scattered and materials are all around the classroom, students can easily be overstimulated. Having materials to help organize lesson plans and materials will allow our class to run more smoothly. For example, an iPad will allow me to reach out to students who are unable to come to the school. I will also be able to move around the classroom while teaching to help my students remain on task and focus.

Students will be set up to succeed with the materials chosen.

The materials I chose were all specifically selected to help with classroom and lesson organization. My goal is to create a classroom environment where students are set up for success. Having a clean space is the first step to that.
