Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our students have shown remarkable strength, and perseverance in the face of hardship. My school has a high population of students who are living in poverty, but when they come to my class, they are just kids ready to learn.

My students often do not have enough clothing to last the entire school week.

Even though our students have these difficulties, they are very compassionate to others in need. Our class wants to establish a clothing closet for those in need and have them discreetly get the things they need. This will be an excellent lesson in how to act to alleviate the suffering of others or help those in need. Incorporating the operation of a clothes closet into the curriculum encourages service learning, wherein students actively apply classroom knowledge to address real-world needs. T-shirts are desperately needed. This hands-on approach fosters a deeper understanding of empathy and compassion as students witness the direct impact of their actions on others' lives.
