My Project

My school was lucky enough to have the funds to purchase carpets for every class on campus; even the big kids got a new rug to sit and learn on. The rugs are so important to student learning; my students engage with math routines and each other while sitting on the rug together.

I have found that even the big kids love sitting on the rug; when it is clean.

Their attention is easier to hold and the buy-in is there. They will focus on what math routine we are doing and listen to each other share their strategies and solutions without too much redirection from me.

The problem is that we have these beautiful new carpets and no way to clean them. My school does not have a vacuum cleaner to ensure that these carpets stay clean. My students are having to sit on dirty rugs and a vacuum cleaner is absolutely necessary.
