This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hello! My students are the most caring and energetic middle schoolers one could ever meet. My school is in the heart of Detroit and my students are a representation of everything that is good in Detroit.
My students are caring and eager to learn.
In an effort to give them an opportunity to show care and concern for senior citizens in the neighborhood, I've created a service learning project that will allow them to do just that.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project. Please consider funding my classroom, completing this project will help the community that helped to raise my students.
Sincerely,
A middle school teacher.
My Project
The items on the list for this project will allow my students to complete a service learning project. This project will allow my students the opportunity to spend time with the senior citizens in the Senior Citizen Home near our school. Specifically, we’ll use the Olympia Tools to transport the cleaning materials on our walk from the school to the home, the Kleenex on the list will be donated to the home to Senior Citizens for normal hygiene use, the Unger Ergonomic broom and dustpan will be used to sweep out the rooms and hallway of the Senior Citizen Home.
While the students are cleaning they’ll also be gleaning knowledge by listening to the stories the senior citizens share with them.
Completing this service learning project will allow the students to give back to senior citizens who have provided snacks for them, helped them cross the busy street in front of the school and supported their fundraising efforts.
