Help me give my students a clean and comfortable classroom environment by providing therapeutic lighting and filtered air within the confines of an old building, in a classroom with no windows and only fluorescent lighting.
My students are middle schoolers, experiencing much change and growth as they transition into young adults. There are a lot of emotions, some organized chaos, and a variety of smells that grace my classroom each hour.
I work in a century-old building, in a room with no natural light and carpeted floors -- it can get stuffy, stinky, and uncomfortable, so my goal is to create a classroom environment that is clean, comfortable, and calm.
With the items that I'm requesting, I will be able to facilitate an environment with minimal fluorescent lighting (light covers) and supplement the lighting with therapeutic lightbulbs in lamps strategically placed around my classroom. The fan with an air purifier will help to keep my (non-airconditioned) room cool and the air clean. With the increase in illnesses that are spread during the school year, this is one more way to combat it. The vacuum will be useful for small spills, especially when I host a weekly beading club.
All the items I am requesting will be used in my classroom and directly or indirectly benefit my students' overall mental and physical health.
