This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are passionate and inquisitive in their quest for science. I teach all 5th graders the foundation they need to be successful in science.

My students are a diverse group of learners that include GT, ESL, regular and special ed.

They absolutely love hands-on and engaging projects that requires them to think outside the box. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

My Project

I have partnered with EcoRise and will be teaching students about sustainability. This year my students will conduct eco-audits examining air quality at school. We will learn the advantages and disadvantages of using commercial disinfectants to clean and eliminate odors. Students will research alternatives to toxic chemicals in disinfectants. In teams, students will be given the task to create a cleaner that is non-toxic and Earth-friendly. As part of this project, I am asking for an air purifier. We will examine how the purifier works without the use of chemicals.
