My Students

As a New York City Department of Education teacher in Queens for the past 20 years, I have seen students from all walks of life. My young students, ages K through 5, are opening themselves up to a new world for the first time. The students are new to the country and are struggling to learn English. Even though they are faced with many obstacles at such an early age, my students try their best to face each hardship with a brave face. They arrive at school each morning with smiles on their faces, ready to take on the new world. They end each day full of gratitude and thankfulness for each opportunity.

It is my job as a teacher to provide a safe environment for each child to blossom into the greatest versions of themselves.

The students that grace my classroom everyday often come from low income and high poverty residences and are English Language Learners. Many just moved into this country from not safe areas or lifestyles and it is up to me to help them be safe.

My Project

This project will help to clean the air in our classroom for my students. This purchase will help keep the room safe, which will reduce the stress and anxiety levels for my English Language Learners. It is my goal to reach all areas of my students, such as, their mental, social, academic, and emotional states.

With Covid-19, students are currently suffering with stress anxiety about coming back to school after being gone for so long.

It is my job to keep the children safe and healthy so that they can concentrate on their learning. If I can assure them that the air in our classroom is safe, then they can focus on becoming acclimated to our country, language and their academics.
