it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Once upon a time, there was teacher who cared immensely about his students, so he reached out to the amazing donor community and requested a Hepa vacuum/purifier and a cooling fan. With the help of the donor community, our space has been transforming into an academic environment where students excel and healthy student-teacher relationships are fostered, but as the summer months are upon us, we will need to modify our activities to ensure student safety. This looks like being in our classroom with 50 or more students trying to learn a physical and/or cognitive skill. This is due to our school district-imposing a student cap of 55 in P.E. This presents unique challenges. Our classroom will heat up quick with so many bodies, and students inevitably will track soil a lot of soil into our classroom.
The heat generated by my students being in the classroom will be almost as bad as the ambient temperature , which will defeat the purpose of being inside; Our learning space does not have windows or a functional HVAC system. This will create challenges.
For instance, high temperatures greatly increased bacterial growth and the risk of students getting sick, but proper ventilation can reduce this possibility. This is why a fan will allow me to set it up so it can redirect the warm air out of our space.
Soil into our class can also affect students well-being. For example, it can trigger asthma attacks and can damage our stationary bikes, which students use for their physical fitness development. A Hepa vacuum and purifier will allow us to have a clean learning environment.
Please help me provide these supplies to my class so that there is clean air for all.
