My Students

My students are amazing children in a specialized inclusive program in a New York City public school. The program, ACES ICT (Academic, Career, and Essential Skills), services students with significant and complex special needs. My students are the most incredible group of children, and they deserve the best education possible! Covid-19 and the sudden transition to remote learning have come with many challenges. Students with special needs are a vulnerable population and they need in-person instruction and therapies in order to grow and learn to their full capacity. New York City has recently reopened its doors to elementary students for in-person instruction.

My students and I are eager and excited to be back in our classroom for in-person instruction in our beloved school!

We are all hoping that schools can remain safe and stay open. I am looking forward to watching my students thrive in the setting in which they can learn best!

My Project

My students are so happy to be back in school! It is my goal to keep all students and adults in my class as safe as possible. This year, we are occupying the space of two adjoining classrooms in order to follow social distancing guidelines. Even with the extra space, we are a big and busy crew! Our class is comprised of nine students and eight adults. Students require direct teacher assistance throughout the school day, preventing us from maintaining six feet of distance.

Due to the complexities of their needs, many of my students cannot tolerate wearing a mask.

Because of this, it is extra important that the air in the classroom is as clean and germ-free as possible. Air-purifiers located around our double classroom will help to protect all students and adults who occupy the room.
