Clay Time For All

My students need 21 packs of clay to learn hand building and modeling techniques.

Hooray! This project is fully funded

I am an art teacher to around 430 students. Working with clay is just one of the many projects we do, but it is one that all grades love. They are eager to learn the techniques associated with handbuilding and modeling and how pottery and ceramics fit into history and different cultures. Please help to make this possible.

With budgetary money in short supply the cost of buying clay for the entire school can easily eat up half of my expenses. For that reason I have had to skip teaching it to some grades in favor of others. In doing this I need to find other alternatives to teaching kids about clay, but nothing substitutes the satisfaction of making a real clay piece.

The average size of a class is around 25. Given that each box of clay is 25 lbs, each child gets about a pound of clay. Often this is fine for small projects but the older kids often require more for their coil pots that we tie into their Jamestown studies. This causes a deficit in clay for the lower grades that have to make small projects. Through this program I hope to receive enough clay to make each child feel they are receiving an equal share of resources and education in clay.

Please help my students achieve their full artistic education and potential by being supplied with enough clay to meet the standards of art education and create beautiful clay pieces that will be cherished. Thank you.
