Clay Sculpture Project inspired by Claus Oldenburg

My Project

My students will be learning about the fantastic sculptures created by Claus Oldenburg. Their sculptures will be centered around food and have a heavy Pop Art influence. Working with clay is a meaningful experience for any age but is particularly valuable for elementary students as their gross and fine motor skills are developing. Many elementary students don't get the opportunity to work with clay. The ability to take a 2-dimensional idea and bring it into the 3rd dimension is an important art skill and an integral part of a well-rounded art education.
