My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have various needs when entering our Title I school but making no excuses, they pull themselves up by their boot-scraps and work hard to achieve their goals. The students have various diagnoses, like Autism and ADD. To provide fairness to all, students may require different learning tools and supports. My students, some entering from impoverished neighborhoods with resilience and determination are the students I proudly teach.

Many times lacking adequate background knowledge, still they rise!

My students usually enter the classroom 1-2 grade levels behind but constantly give their best effort to set goals and close the achievement gaps because they know I have high expectations for them all. Due to the expectations, encouragement, and effort, the students soar!

My Project

Moving to 2nd grade, the students will engage in various levels of instruction and different types of curriculums. They will have whole group, small group, partner teams, and independent inquiry. The students need a carpet for Readers and Writers workshops. The carpet will be used daily. It would avoid students sitting on a cold floor.

The second graders need an environment that is positive, comfortable, and conducive to learning.

They will began a new math curriculum called Eureka Math. The math tools are needed to help the students connect and transfer the new learning. The funding of this project will help the students have an environment conducive to learning and growth through seating and tools.
