This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher, I believe that all children are able to learn, despite their social or economic backgrounds, if given the opportunity. I have been given the privilege of working at a Title I, high trauma, inner-city school where more than 85% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch everyday. My students in particular face struggles inside and outside of the classroom, as I work with students with special needs, including but not limited to autism, specific learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and developmental delays.
My Project
My students could all benefit from having this requested Epson PowerLite projector in the classroom. Currently at my school, each grade level only has one projector that must be shared among four or five teachers everyday.
If my students were able to have their own projector, we could incorporate technology in our everyday lessons in a variety of subjects.
Technology is becoming an important aspect in education today - even the SOLs are taken on computers! By projecting lessons and using a variety of computer programs and apps in the classroom, students will be able to learn how to manipulate these programs which will help them be successful with technology in the future.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
