Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is Title I and is located in a predominately Hispanic area. My students are faced with many obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Despite all the obstacles they face, their parents are very supportive and willing to help make a change.
My students love school!
They are eager to get their hands on their next learning adventure. They are willing and able to try just about anything related to their learning. They love to discuss things that they learn about and the books that they read with us during morning meeting. More importantly, my students want to be loved and to belong. My goal is to show them that they matter in a world this big and that they are destined for greatness.

My Project
At the start of the year, my students were able to bring in supplies. Unfortunately, it hasn't been enough. Parents could buy everything on a teacher’s wish list and it wouldn’t last a year. And those lists don’t always have everything we need to be productive, either. At some point in the year, I have inevitably had to replace some of the supplies myself because the thought of asking struggling parents pains me. If this project is fulfilled, my students will have copy paper, tons of pencils, pens, and Post-its for them to write on during writers workshop and readers workshop activities. Supplies are truly the tools of the elementary education process.
