This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The new school year has just kicked off, and I am more excited than ever to welcome 26 first graders into our new classroom.

In order to create and maintain the environment that I want for my kids, I'm going to need some help purchasing the supplies that they need.

I often find myself stopping at the store on my way home to pick up various things, but these little purchases add up over time. As you know, a teacher's salary is barely enough to make ends meet for myself- let alone to cover the supplies of my students.

My Project

My students will use the number chart during our daily math routines. They will use dry erase markers to complete daily "board work" routines. This includes writing lower case letters, upper case letters, 10 "sight words of the week", and numbers 1-120. We will use the classroom timer to track our reading stamina during reader's workshop. The Play Doh will develop students' fine motor skills, in addition to keeping them occupied during "rainy day recess". Lastly, they will use the storage bins to organize their supplies.

It takes a lot of time, energy, and love to maintain a classroom for 26 first graders.

It also takes a bit of financial support. I work at a Title 1 school, which means we are severely under-resourced. But that shouldn't (and won't) prevent me from giving my students a quality education. Please consider helping us access the supplies that my students need and deserve!
