Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fourth and fifth grade students attend a progressive Title I elementary school in New York City. They come from all over the planet and have diverse heritages and experiences. They attend a dual-language (English and Spanish) school and are in an ICT setting.

My students are very engaged and are encouraged to have a say in what they are learning and/or will learn throughout the school year.

We ensure that this happens by giving them project time everyday to develop their individual interests.

My Project

Our school's philosophy incorporates time for children to learn through project building. Every day, we allow the students roughly an hour to brainstorm, plan and build a project (or continue a project they had already started).

By contributing to this project, you will help us provide necessary materials for our students to be able to create meaningful projects in class.

When they have paper and scissors, they will be able to create pyramids, landscapes or bring other ideas to life that have to do with our theme for the fall semester - Ancient Civilizations (ancient Egypt in particular). Thank you so much for your contribution!
