My Students

I start the day by greeting my students at the door and they give me a hug. In the morning, they attend special area class (music,art), literacy and Social Studies. After lunch and recess, they have math and science. We end the day by sharing something positive about each other and the day.

I teach in a Title I school, in which all students have a free breakfast and a free lunch everyday.

Some students have difficult home situations, in which they only get a few hours of sleep at night and come to school sleep deprived. Some of my students do not have the basic learning needs such as books, pencils, and erasers. My students need a quiet, positive, learning environment where they can concentrate and focus on their work. They just want to be loved by a trusted adult. I love working with my students and I have a strong passion and strong belief that I can make a difference in these children's lives.

My Project

Having classroom materials ready ahead of time helps keep things moving in the classroom. Students are very busy throughout the day and having interruptions for not having a pencil is more wasted time. We need a reliable electric sharpener to sharpen 40 pencils a day. This way, if a pencil is broken, the students can easily get a new pencil and continue working, without any interruptions. Some of my students are very sensitive to sound and noise. Even the movement of furniture can impact the concentration of my students. By having the chair pads, this will keep the classroom quiet so that students can concentrate on their work with the least amount of noise. This will help them be studious scholars, in which they can focus on their work instead of the noise of furniture or not having a pencil ready.

There is a lot of movement in my classroom, in which students are working at learning stations, computer activities, lessons on the SmartBoard, as well as team work at their desks.

By having the chair and desk pads, this will help keep the classroom environment calm and quiet. By having pencils sharpened ahead of time, this will cause less interruptions as students will be able to easily get a new pencil to complete their work. This will help them be studious scholars.
