Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Sitting still in class for a long period of time is extremely difficult for many students in middle school. Supplies are needed so that students will be encouraged to collaborate and engage in hands-on assignments. Please help us to make our thinking visible!

The students whom I teach are 6th and 7th graders in a Title I school.

Literacy class is two periods, which means that the students are sitting in my classroom learning for 90 minutes each day! This can be very tiring for many students who need the extra push and motivation.

My Project

The materials requested will enable 90 students to learn from one another and let their creativity shine. The chart paper and markers/crayons will allow students to make their thinking visible and to show what they are visualizing throughout the task. The ink will allow students to print their final writing pieces to be displayed in the classroom and in portfolios. This will promote student confidence. Children are often proud when they see their work hanging in the room for others to see.

The donation would improve the classroom because it will allow students to interact, discuss new ideas and make their thinking visible.

Students will be learning while having an enjoyable experience in class. This will change my students' lives by boosting self-confidence and promoting student ownership of their best work. Charts that are student generated will also be used as anchor charts throughout the classroom so that students are able to refer back to it during independent tasks.
