My Project
I am a special education teacher in a high equity school. The vast majority of my students are of low socioeconomic status. Additionally, since our school has a tight budget because of this student population, supplies such as paper are extremely hard to come by. Once we run out of supply of the paper provided, it comes out of our own pockets to get more.
Being a teacher is a very rewarding job, but also requires a lot of personal financial sacrifice.
Having access to items such as copy paper and water can benefit my students so they have the tools and necessities they need to succeed. Also, special education students have a variety of challenges, with distractions being one of them. Receiving tennis balls to place on the chairs would alleviate a great deal of noise that impacts learning.
