Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will be teaching 10th-grade Self-Contained ELA and Global History. I'd like to start the year off with my students feeling successful by having all the classroom supplies they would possibly need on Day 1. I plan to provide each student with a binder, folders, and a pencil case with supplies like pens, pencils, erasers, highlighters, and white out. The other materials will be to support classroom organization, which is essential for a self-contained class. Additionally, I am working to make our classroom a safe space. I'd like to provide my students with snacks in the classroom, as many come to school not having eaten breakfast. There will also be a calming corner with aromatherapy scents to support all emotions that may arise throughout the day.

With these materials, I will support my students as they strive to overcome all obstacles they face.

It has been an uphill battle to gather resources. We don't even have a classroom assigned for our self-contained students. It's so important that they see we care.
