My Students

Developmentally 2nd grade is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals that I get the pleasure of teaching! This group loves to write, learn new math strategies, and boogie to a fun tune to get their wiggles out every so often.

In this class, we are a whole.

We have built a community around each other’s strengths and shared experiences.

We are part of a larger whole that celebrates inclusion and individuality throughout each grade level, with whole school celebrations each month. I am one of five 2nd grade classrooms in a Title I 2nd-6th-grade school. The work we do in this classroom is academically invigorating as we build on our community as a whole.

My Project

With the world a different place school will look and feel very different for my new 2nd graders ( for us all!). While entering into this new year my goal is to make it feel as inviting and comfortable as possible for my class.

There will be many changes to keep social distance and one of those is no lockers.

While the weather will get colder and lunches will be still be brought having a place to put these supplies in there own space will be necessary and important.

Having crates and command hooks at their individual desks will allow them contained space needed to achieve this. As we enter into this new territory having the supplies and space for each student will offer comfort and support the social emotional needs these students will have.
