My Students

Help seat my kinders! I want all of my students to have their own, individual space on the rug and feel welcome at circle time!

My students are so sweet and eager to learn.

I try to make learning as fun as possible and do several group activities on my rug. I teach at a Title I school, with low income students. My school is set in the country, where many of my children own or run a farm. Our population is mostly made up of Caucasian and migrant workers. My school is one of the oldest in the school system and has celebrated it's 100th birthday. While it has undergone renovations, many areas/classrooms still are "dated."

My Project

By having this rug, my students will have a space of their own to sit at during circle time, morning meeting, etc. They will feel welcome during learning and have a clean rug to sit on vs. the "hand me down" I currently have. I have spent hundreds of dollars (from my own pocket) having my classroom rug shampooed and cleaned during breaks to preserve it's life. Because it has been passed down and several students have enjoyed it, it certainly has seen better days. By having this, I will spend more time in small groups at the rug, thus seeing an advancement in academic growth!

This rug will give my 105 year old classroom a facelift and a NEW feel!

It will be warm, inviting, and clean for my upcoming kindergarten class. I plan on utilizing my new rug for more small group instruction, circle time, and morning meeting. Students will spend a lot of time at the rug and will feel more comfortable knowing they have their own space!
