This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A classroom rug is an important learning space in the classroom. It really is the center of the classroom. Most of our learning takes place on the classroom rug. This rug will be new and inviting.

When students come together on the classroom rug, many skills are being developed, and skills to connect as a classroom family are built.

Unfortunately, the classroom rug that we use is not in the best shape. It does not have adequate grip and is hard to stay in place. I am hoping for a longer-lasting classroom rug for our class to gather in safely. Having a new rug and a cordless vacuum that can easily be stored in the classroom will make it easier to clean and ensure the rug lasts a long time.

Carpet time supports early learners' academic and social-emotional skills. Students start and end their day on the classroom rug. This rug reinforces their phonics knowledge, helps students establish boundaries in finding their own space, and assists with daily routines. It will also provide a welcoming environment for current and future students.
