My Students

Our school is extremely diverse ethnically and socioeconomically. We have poor and middle-class students of all backgrounds.

Our students are accepting, warm, and welcoming, and grateful for the opportunities they are given.

Our school environment is as healthy for young people as I have ever seen, and it shows when our students go out for competitions and trips. Our school is known in our local area for these characteristics and yearly performs at a high level compared to other schools with similar demographics.

My Project

With these robots, we will have a more concrete way to teach motion and graphing in our 9th-grade Conceptual Physics classes.

In addition to teaching equations for motion and how to solve them, we will be able to use actual items to experience how motion and mathematics are connected.

The students will appreciate this approach to the topics, possibly even creating the motion equations themselves based upon their own observations. This will make this part of the class more engaging because instead of it appearing as only algebra, there will be real motion to observe, describe, and make claims about.
