Most of my students are 16-18 years old and they are currently sitting in desks from the 70s with which their legs do not even fit under.
The courses I teach are advanced placement and require deep thinking and collaboration as they attempt to earn college credit while still in high school.
They would greatly benefit from the small group gathering sections that this new furniture would allow. The small couch and coffee table would be a station for small group discussion. The high bar tables and barstools would give a divided section for students to work independently. And then the table groupings would facilitate the collective thought processes where real learning takes place. I have applied for funding every year from the district to make this dream a reality but there are just so many monetary needs in our classrooms. With your help, we could make this classroom a reality.
