This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My goal is to create an Independent Reading/ Self-Reflection Center for my students with a carpet, wobble cushion, and SEL books. Reading has many benefits for students, from inspiring the imagination to improving academic abilities. I would love for my students to have the opportunity to work individually or in small groups to practice reading and other literacy skills. I would also like to have an area where my students can have some time to self-reflect when they are having a hard time. Self-reflection helps students to develop a secure and confident knowledge base, and sense of self that empowers them to take on new challenges.
