A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I will be teaching this fall in a first grade classroom! I am so excited to get to work with each individual that enters my classroom. The majority of my students will come from urban areas. They have chosen to attend our public charter school, to be a part of a school whose mission and vision are to provide a well-rounded, STEM-based, educational experience that fosters leaders, problem solvers and critical thinkers. Our public charter school inspires, excites and empowers young learners to embrace the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Our school receives one-third of the funding that traditional public schools in our area from the state.
This creates an economic hardship for our school. As a result, we have a challenging time acquiring materials to help support our STEM-based curriculum for our students.
My incoming first graders and I will be experiencing all of the opportunities that this school has to offer as a team. I am so excited to embark on this journey together!
My Project
Having a projector in our classroom will allow us to more easily and effectively participate in various movement activities as well as providing students with better visual supports for academic purposes. Right now, students are crowding around my laptop to be able to follow along to movement break activities, as well as when we are watching videos that provide a visual context to what we are discussing in class. Movement breaks have become one of their favorite activities during the school day. Having a classroom projector will allow me to better provide access to materials for my students. Having 18 students crowd around a small laptop is becoming increasingly more challenging.
