Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I see my students faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. One hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their socioeconomic status. Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school ready and eager to learn, to be loved, to be accepted, and to be in a safe place.

My students need art supplies so they can be creative and learn different skills and techniques in art.

We live in a rural community and the students do not have the opportunity for an art class. I want to provide them with art lessons that make connections with the standards they are leaning.

My Project

Hello! I am a new teacher at a school that is considered very low income. The district does not supply us with anything to organize our classroom. We have to provide everything down to paperclips and staples. I want to have a classroom that promotes not only learning but also a place where students look forward to coming to school everyday.

As a new teacher I need many supplies for my classroom to create an atmosphere of learning and emotional well being.

The items in this project would help tremendously with that. It's amazing how many things you realize you need as a new teacher. It can be somewhat overwhelming when you want to give your students a wonderful experience and you don't have the funds to do that yourself.
