My Students

My students are the most career minded, future focused students I have ever worked with in 20 years. They have the kindest hearts for each other and thank me for teaching them every day. They deserve the tools they need to be successful in the workforce. My students now are our future and I am trying to get them future ready using equipment from the past. My students want to be the technology leaders of the future and are taking technology classes in high school to support that dream. They have big dreams and are willing to put in the work to get there. They are very forgiving of the provided technology and strive to do better for future generations. They work hard in class every day to make their future better and the future of the world by learning how to solve the technological problems of the future. My students are the future CEO’s and business owners and most are taking college courses in high school to realize dreams faster and more efficiently.

My Project

I am teaching the workforce of the future with the furniture and classroom configuration of the past. My students are learning vital computer technology, typing and programming skills for the future and are forced to sit in chairs that do not support healthy posture or allow students to perform best. I would like to replace the ergonomically poor classroom furniture with smart chairs that are ergonomically designed to adjust in size, provide the right fit, move with a student, and enhance curriculum.

As the classroom instructor, I am forced to sit at my desk in order to “teach” students technology while using out of date technology.

I need to be in closer proximity to the students in order to guide, direct, and have a greater impact on learning. I would like to be able to present with a tablet that will allow me to be close to the students rather than being chained to my desk to project and giving them sit and absorb instruction. Being able to write on a tablet would allow the students to get a more authentic experience and allow me to guide and direct rather than sit and absorb.

Both teacher and student seating has to adapt to what is going on in the classroom and the workplace in order to gain a measurable increase in student performance.

I believe this project will make my students more future ready and provide them the environment deserved for a 21st century learning centered classroom.
