Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I teach at a Title I school in Bronx, New York where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpacks with supplies in the beginning of the school year, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families.

Our school serves students in pre-k through fifth grades and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment.

Our goal is to prepare our students for success in middle school, high school and college. However, there are times when we do not have the supplies we need.

My Project

Many items are needed for our class. These items include pencils, pens, erasers and pencil sharpener. We need these items because they are tools for writing, revising and editing out work. Students are always in need of pencils and erasers for when they make mistakes. The pens are useful in the revising and editing process. We use small white boards for working on math problems, therefore we need a white board eraser.

We often have celebrations in our class in which we acknowledge their hard work.

Therefore, we need napkins, plates, utensils, cups, paper towels to carry out these celebrations.

Lastly, we need cleaning supplies such as: lysol, hand sanitizer, hand soap, and tissues to help keep a healthy environment for all.
