This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd grade integrated ESL classroom consists of 26 children. The majority of the students are English language learners. They attend an inner-city public school, of which 90% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Please help me provide these children with the resources they need to be successful and a classroom that is warm and inviting.

My Project

There are so many benefits to having a classroom listening center. My 2nd grade classroom consists of English language learners. Listening centers expose students to patterns, expressions, different accents & dialects, of the English language. ​Students are able to build on their vocabulary and oral fluency as they make connections to what they hear and see throughout the text. They are able to listen to the story multiple times. Repeated readings supports comprehension skills and word recognition.

Included in this project is a complete listening center with a portable CD player, 4 headphones, and an 8 station junction with volume control.

A set of 16 single read-alongs is also included. These materials will provide my students with read aloud model, teach them critical listening skills, and expose them to new vocabulary.
