Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am fortunate enough to have relationships with many of my students already. This year, I already know that my students are inquisitive, and creative, and desire a learning environment where they are engaged and connected to the material. While I have been able to teach them the academic skills necessary to be promoted to the next grade, they were able to teach me about compassion, human connections, and self-determination. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. Our hallways have often been filled with the voices of different languages.

My students must keep up with their literacy skills in order to improve their critical thinking.

Independent reading is critical for students to retain knowledge and skills acquired during the academic school year. Reading inside and outside of the classroom allows students to take ownership of their learning and reading. I want my students to have an opportunity to select books that they are interested in reading so that they can fall in love with the art of reading.
