My Students

I teach English I and II to about 100 students in a rural area. These students have a unique passion for reading and creative writing.

During our first week of school, this group of students showed a love of reading and excitement from seeing new, beautiful books on their classroom bookshelf.

Many of these students have devoured more than three or more books within the first few weeks of school.

They deserve to see more beautiful and recent books and especially diverse books that they can relate to.

My Project

This project is to create a more diverse and inclusive classroom library and to give students access to new, exciting books.

Many students get excited by book covers, and so to me, it is important to grab their attention with beautiful books.

These books also give students non-fiction options, and some books can help them learn new skills or improve on existing ones. All books have been chosen with my students in mind. Many of my students are interested in manga and graphic novels, so I want to add more of these kinds of books into my library as well.
