My Students

My students are young, energetic, curious, but also a bit nervous. For many it's their first time in a new school: there are bell schedules, teenagers, and so many ways to potentially embarrass oneself. Little do they realize that all of their peers are a bit self-conscious and they are entering a school with lots of quirky, funny, teachers who intend to make sure that they have a great middle school experience.

My students inhabit and live in New York City: one of the most exciting and busy places in the world, yet their school day doesn't always reflect that excitement.

My students are from all over the world and speak multiple languages. My students are curious and ask their teachers questions during class, before school, during advisory, and at lunch. They draw, play LEGOs, basketball, and video games after classes. They love music and movies. My students are special because they look out for one another and persist day after day.

My Project

We are creating a classroom library and these titles will allow us to read and discuss interesting books. Students often borrow books from our class bookshelf and having more copies of popular books will provide more students the opportunity to read. Additionally, students will be able to read the same books and discuss them in world history and English language arts class.

Other supplies such as paper and Post-It notes will allow us creative ways to journal, reflect, and write about the topics that we are learning about in class.

Having clipboards will allow students to leave the classroom to go outside the confines of our room to write, journal, and draw.
