My students need a set of engaging books for our classroom library that includes a variety of reading levels and topics.

Reading can be so much fun, but not with a limited amount of books in the classroom! I teach Third grade to a group of hard-working, energetic learners. Improving comprehension and fluency is vital to their academic achievement. Just as important, is developing a love of literature.

My students love to have daily independent reading time. I have a small collection of books in my classroom that I've purchased at second hand stores, or that have been passed down from other teachers. Already, only three weeks into the school year, my students have read most of the books at their levels and are starting to lose interest in our "Independent Reading Time," a vital part of our day.

A fresh set of leveled books would provide my students with a variety of titles to read independently. Studies show that students should have time each and every day to read a book of their choice, at their reading level. I hope to give them this opportunity.
