If you were able to visit my classroom you would observe 19 wonderfully unique children. I share my classroom with 11 girls and 8 boys. My students have a wide array of interests, talents, and hobbies.
I love watching my students devour books, explore genres, and discover who they are as readers.
I love watching students conquer a new math concept or skill. And I love getting to know their passions and interests.
I know I am supposed to get into the nitty-gritty details about how many of the students in our school are from low-income families or receive free or reduced price lunch, but the truth is, I feel that detracts from how incredible they are. I don't want anyone to be clouded with negative thoughts or pity, I want them to be psyched about donating to a project regardless of where my students come from. Let's instead dream about where they are going!
My Project
The readers in my third grade classroom strive to read 30 books throughout the school year in a variety of genres. To keep this goal attainable it is my job to: keep high interest books circulating, be sure there are books for all levels of readers, and to keep building a collection of diverse books.
If I want kids to love reading as much as I do, I need to keep filling their hands with books they can't wait to read!
I've enjoyed looking for great titles to add to my classroom, and thank you for considering to support this project. Not only will this group benefit from these books and materials, but students for years to come will as well.
