This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Organization is key! I am returning as a second year teacher to my school and will be in charge of reading for the whole grade level. Please help our classroom library be organized so that books are easily found to enjoy being read!

My students are from a low socioeconomic background and are already falling behind in reading due to the lack of reading materials they are exposed to.

The Matthew Effect is a reading theory that exposes the gap between readers and non readers. The rich (readers) get richer while the poor (non readers) get poorer. This stems from lack of opportunity to read text. Please help lessen the gap and give these students a chance to be productive members of society.

My Project

The revolving stand will help students learn how to share books by examining why they would like someone else to read this book. The student will write why someone should read this book and place it on the revolving stand. The tubs will help students learn how to classify books and learn genres such as fairy tales, biographies, fiction, non-fiction, myths, fables, historical fiction and expository.

I am studying for my masters in reading and my philosophy is : Reading is Thinking.

We want our future citizens to be problem solvers and thinkers. Please help me create students who love to read and think!
