This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This is my second year teaching in Boyle Heights at the middle school level, more specifically, 6th grade. I have fallen in love with not only the community but the students as well. They inspire me to be the best educator possible because they remind me of myself growing up. These ladies and gentlemen are striving to be the best version of themselves each and every day. They work so hard in my class that I would love to give them a classroom library they deserve.

The specific items I requested would reboot and fine tune a classroom library that has been in great need of an update for the past two years.

My students thoroughly enjoy reading, whether it be a good graphic novel or an informational text. Unfortunately, my classroom library is a bit outdated and does not have many, if any, popular novels students in the 6th grade get excited to read!

My goal for this project is to surprise my students with a completely revamped classroom library with modern texts they can get excited to read! They already enjoy reading and to have these new genres for them to explore I know will excite them!

My students are so special because they are striving for greatness despite the community they are growing up in. They are not letting their circumstance dictate their path. They are creating their own path in their life! I tell them each and everyday that they are the only person stopping them from becoming whatever they want to be in life. My students inner fire is burning bright, they know they can accomplish any goal they lay out for themself.
