My Project

Most of my students are performing below grade level. This Classroom Library Project will help my class to start building a collection of books. These books will allow my students to physically access rich age appropriate reading material. Some of the books are for enjoyment while other books integrate with science and social studies.

How are students supposed to learn to love reading if their only reading material is their textbook?

Due to the pandemic, our librarian position has been discontinued and the school library has been dismantled. My students only have access to a limited number of picture books that were left behind by the previous teacher. Why should students read picture books when they could read more complex literature? If students don't have access to rich text then how are we going to push them to strive to their highest potential?
