I teach in a self-contained classroom with 12-13 students (ages 8-12) that have moderate to severe disabilities. I teach subjects such as Reading, Written Expression, Math, Science, Social Studies, Life Skills, and Social Skills, among many others. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I want to provide my students with creative and purposeful learning experiences.
They require a lot of hands-on and interactive activities to fully understand what they are learning.
My students struggle with understanding written language and having technology will help them to take on more ownership with their education.
My Project
Integrating and incorporating an iPad into my classroom is vital to the success of my students. The iPads will help students engage in academic content, while receiving instant satisfaction when they complete lessons. They can work on individualized goals and benchmarks in exciting ways.
Having an iPad in the classroom will open up new opportunities for their future.
During this school year, we have had several iPads stop working, either through the operating system or charging ports becoming damaged. This has left us with 3 working iPads for a class size of 12-13 students. My students would be extremely grateful for any donations that could be made towards this project.
