My Students

Our classroom is full of diverse learners. We serve students grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade with moderate/severe Autism. While we are housed at a great elementary school campus, we are a specialized program that focuses on meeting the needs of these unique learners and getting them classroom ready!

Every day, we work hard to challenge the stereotypes of disability.

We serve students with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, and potential Multiple disabilities. Therefore, the needs of each student vary from child to child but can include help with communication, academics, behaviors, hygiene or feeding. We assist these students in learning how to speak through sign, AAC, or Speech. We work with leveled curriculum to meet each at their academic levels while being grade level appropriate. We help process behaviors and help our students learn to understand big emotions!

We are a group of hard workers who wake up ready to meet the challenges of the day head-on! Life isn't always easy for these special learners or their families. Our job is to help these students achieve both academically in in their daily lives!

My Project

Our classroom hosts students aged 5-8 with varying levels of Autism. Some of these students are non-verbal. But non verbal does NOT mean non-intelligent! These students need a way to communicate with the world around them. While sign language and icons are a great first step, the world today is fast and technological, and not everyone understands sign language. And icons are not always readily available.

Our students will be better equipped to communicate with people in community with an iPad and speech app.

We will teach our students to communicate with community members, building the foundation for entering the workforce and living independently.
