My Project

Our 5th grade students are still feeling the stress that Hurricane Ian caused in our immediate area. So many students were displaced and or suffered great property loss which has created enormous financial stress and worry on the families. Many of our students come to school carrying the emotional burdens of their families.

The items that I chose for this project will directly benefit the comfort and enjoyment of learning in the classroom.

Every student is called to small group lessons each week. The flexible seating that I have requested will allow students who need ' a break' from sitting to have some additional freedom of movement while staying on task in their group. It will allow them to look forward to small group instruction!

The activities and games that I have requested will allow students to spend quality engaging with one another during indoor recess time. We currently have very few options for them which requires us to allow them computer time to play games; I would love to see them practice their interpersonal social skills without using media.
