My Project

I teach at WHS, where the large majority of my students are reading below their grade's reading level. This makes teaching a challenge when we are expected to teach novels like Beowulf, as the language isn't accessible to my students in the same way it is to students who read at or above grade level.

These graphic novels will be the defining factor for my student's understanding of a critical novel in English literature.

This allows them to access a text that might not be accessible otherwise. While we read the graphic novel digitally as a class last year, the physical versions allow for students to read individually at their tables instead of following along on the projector. This also allows the students to annotate the books using transparent sticky notes, a skill that was not able to be taught with only using eBooks last year.
