My Students

In our kindergarten class, we spend a good deal of our time learning together at the carpet and sharing ideas. My students love to share their thinking with one another. We share our thinking during read aloud, word work, and higher level number talks.

My students come to school excited to learn each day.

The majority of my students are English Language Learners. The majority of them also came in with no prior school experience. They are growing both socially and academically and it's exciting to see more and more of them become comfortable speaking in class and sharing their ideas.

My Project

The white board easel would make visual sharing more accessible to my students. Currently, our only white board is mounted on the wall and too high for my kindergarten students to access. I would love for students to be able to come up and write their thinking for everyone to see, point to things on the board to help explain their thinking, and have the board at a height where they can see it easily from their spot at the carpet.

My students will be able to take more ownership of their learning when the space is more accessible to their size.

They would be able to access the white board to share their thinking and to better see the thinking of their fellow classmates. Student engagement increases when students feel more connected to the learning and can see the resources up close.
