My Project

I work with the outstanding youth of New Orleans in a Title I K-8 school. My students are resilient and have been preserving through an entire year of virtual learning. While over 60% of the student population has been diagnosed with PTSD, my school strives to be trauma-informed while acknowledging our students' social-emotional needs. Despite these scholars' daily struggles, they bring joy to the school community by showing up eager to learn! I enjoy learning from my students so that I can create a safe space for each learner to show up authentically as themselves. As I enter my third year in this school community, I look forward to watching my students grow into mathematical problem solvers! I am requesting support with Math workbooks, classroom decor materials, and student materials so that my classroom can be as engaging as possible. The requested supplies with help improve engagement during intervention with the math books bringing in additional learning opportunities. While the decor materials will help make our space look nice, they also give students an opportunity to make crafts, complete our social-emotional learning wall, and build on prizes that we will create this year. Additional supplies on this list will be used during everyday instruction to learn new skills throughout the school year.
